State to seek death penalty in Mills River murder case
Hendersonville Lighting reports that prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty for Phillip Michael Stroupe II, charged with first degree murder in the death of 68 year old Thomas Bryson of Mills River. Stroupe also faces kidnapping and car theft counts from the abduction. The six day manhunt ended with Bryson’s body found in a Buncombe cornfield. The case is now a capital murder prosecution in Henderson County with multiple theories of first degree murder.
