Penrose neighbors mobilize against waste to energy plant

Opponents of a Renewable Developers Penrose 1 LLC waste-to-energy plant seek to block the project or force a full review by the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners. The proposed site near the Transylvania County Airport would generate up to 4 megawatts for sale to Duke Energy. A public meeting is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Rogan Room of the county library, with neighbors planning to discuss strategy and turnout.
