Voters in Helena must register at their polling places on Tuesday or Wednesday and vote Monday next on issuing $200,000 in water bonds to improve the city water system and reservoir storage. The campaign urges action to prevent shortages, fire hazards, and health risks from current water conditions.
Reports say La Paz is in rebel hands after a military coup led by General Carlos Blanco Galdino. Celebrations include people showering flowers on insurgent troops as ex-President Hernando Siles regime collapses amid clashes and a state of siege.
In Pikeville Kentucky Jaume Leady was shot and killed today by B C Chapman during a quarry fight 27 miles from Pikeville. Chapman was brought to a hospital in critical condition after six shots were fired at him and Leady while he lay down. Leady had reportedly accused Chapman of making whisky and was apprehended. A bystander was also hit by a stray bullet, sustaining a hip wound.
A row of five damaged cars at the AA Garage auto morgue marks a 24 hour toll on roads near Helena. About eighteen people were involved in the crashes with minor injuries, largely minor cuts. The report notes several wrecks along routes near Winslow, Canyon Ferry, and the Austin road, with continued coverage on page 6.

A large fire swept through Indio California on June 20 causing about 100600 dollars in damage. A grocery store jewelry shop gold hall and a bank suffered damage while a cleaning catalog and other structures were destroyed. Fire officials believe the blaze started in the jewelry store.
Western state executives from fourteen states arrive for the national governors conference in Salt Lake City. Governors from New York, Georgia, Virginia, Illinois and others prepare for the opening sessions with addresses on unemployment pensions and public domain policy. The meeting includes tours, dinners, and round table discussions led by Gov. Franklin D. Roosevelt of New York and Gov. Sam R. Borhman of Georgia.

Viviente Wallace, Helena born, leaves for Seattle to resume work at KPCH after two weeks in Helena. Wallace began radio in 1928 with KIT. later joined KIR then KPCH as a leading Seattle announcer. While in Helena she enjoyed the work, is noted as the only woman in the Northwest in such a post and among few in the United States. Philadelphia reports Canaver A. Thomas, a 62 year railroad veteran and 42 year engineer, retiring from rail work with final trip from Philadelphia to New York with his son as conductor.
A report from Nanking states the central government pressed peace efforts as northern rebels withdrew after a fragile clash near Tantong in Honan. About two thousand prisoners were captured and large ammunition stores seized, with a battle spanning more than fourteen days and tens of thousands of troops involved. Negotiations were under way with Chiang Kai-Shek and rebel leaders as possible peace talks were discussed at a gathering in Muiden.
An historic flight from New York to Bermuda and back captained by Charence Chavis and Bert Aconta in a battered monoplane Catambla closes another night of daring aviation. Roger O. Viarton Texas near Laredo reports a border clash in which a Mexican rebel was killed early inlay, customs officers captured two alleged companions, with one wounded and later dying. Moscow June 29 Joseph Stalin declared at the communist party congress that Soviet authorities will offer partial payment on claims arising from confiscations during revolts. He indicated the Soviet government would treat Grievance claims for property seized during the revolution as negotiable, potentially favoring creditor nations or firms willing to extend credits. The American General Electric Co is cited as having arranged a credit of 25 million dollars in exchange for partial repayment of Bolshevik era confiscation claims, with further payment terms discussed.
President Hoover comes back from a weekend camping trip to find Mrs Hoover much improved after rest at the camp near Rapid River. Dr T Boone says she is fit to return to the capital but will stay at the Monk in the Hay. The party endured heat and dust on the return drive to Washington.
Huffato June 29 reports Spencer Brown a 27 year old parachute jumper from Cheekto Aga and Eagle Mork Flying chird died after a 2,600 foot jump. Brown leaped from a plane piloted by George Torr and his parachute opened but he landed in a tree. He was lowered by ropes and died en route to a hospital.
A chaotic scene near Donwmont and Port Arthur erupts as a mob of about 46 men clashes with a group led by Covington and Wang Alley. The incident follows a reported attack tied to racial tensions. Ralney Willian died after a fall linked to the event.
New London Jan 29 A rum runner was taken near Montauk Point after a hot chase by Coast Guard patrols. The craft carried liquor aboard and struck a machine gun bullet during pursuit injuring one man. another passenger was fined 40 pounds in New York. The vessel was captured following the escape of one boat that tried to outrun the patrol.
