Secretary of State Hull and State Department officials back his stance while critics warn it could weaken U S posture in the Far East. House leaders anticipate amendments as debate continues.
In Kansas City on December 17, three men were shot at the Ford assembly plant amid a labor dispute with United Automobile Workers. Two deputy constables were wounded as officers escorted about 600 Ford workers home. Five attackers stopped the caravan and two were later arrested after claims they sought to search workers for weapons. no weapons were found.
