Beginning to Feel at Home in Keremeos Yard Work

The V V E settles into house keeping at Keremeos as steel is laid in the yards. Tracks span the station yard with sidings and grading in progress toward Hedley and Princeton. A large steam shovel sits at the gravel bank, moving a big flat car load of gravel for ballasting and grade raising near the Armstrong bridge.

Cariboo Camp McKinney resumes operations with leasehold plan

Camp McKinney again active after a three year pause as leaseholders from Phoenix B C reopen the Cariboo mine. Stamp ore and machine drills have worked the slopes for over a week while the plant is revived and freight costs may drop with better transport links. Lease negotiations hint at Sailor Consolidated and a reorganization of the camp’s service lineup with Leon Brideville on the V Ve E route.

Louis Hill Visits Hedley and Inspects Nickel Plate

Louis W. Hill president of the Great Northern arrives by private car in Hedley with Chief Engineer Hogeland. He tours Princeton coal properties and the Vermillion Forks Mining Co. site, chats with local officials, and departs by auto toward Keremeos amid a warm reception and a noted Indian street episode.

Annual School Meeting Sets Budget and Building Plans

The annual meeting elected G. H. Sproule as chairman and S. L. Smith as secretary treasurer. A financial statement audited by J. J. Tewin and the trustees’ annual report were presented and adopted. The board may dispose of the old premises at cost plus interest, and the meeting authorized a 750 tax levy to cover next year’s expenses and debt service. Post Office Inspector Visits Hedley for Office Audit

Mr. J. Br. Greenfield, a veteran Post Office inspector, visited Hedley on Tuesday night to begin an inspection of the local office. A longtime P O official, he is noted for his thorough expertise and varied past work as a typographer.

Mining in Qloyoos District Reports Progress and Investments

In the Osoyoos Mining Division annual report, Jas. Br.
