In Houston the Texas conference returned Rev. E H McKenzie to lead Hearne Methodist for a sixth consecutive year. The American Legion in Hearne elected officers for the coming year. Hearne bathing girls join Watermelon Festival revue in Navasota. Maxine Fulton and Donald Rikard of Hearne wed in a quiet Austin ceremony at Rosedale Baptist Church. Dan Perkins of College Station visited his parents over the weekend.
Funeral services for Lucy Holt 78 of Point Enterprise were held at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home Mexia with Rev J C Collins and Rev Floyd Houston officiating. Interment was in Point Enterprise Cemetery. She died Wednesday in a Waco hospital born July 5 1893 in Upshur County moved to Limestone County in 1921 and was a Primitive Baptist Church member. She was sister to Mrs Vannie Nunley of Hearne.
James A. McCollum died June 11 in Pawnee Oklahoma aged 87 He was born October 26 1883 in Seligman Missouri and was a Pawnee County attorney after earning a Missouri law degree Survivors include his wife Lillian of Pawnee two daughters Mrs Jennings Conyers of Monett Missouri and Mrs A W Farmilo of Calgary Canada nine grandchildren and one great grandchild Also attending were Mr and Mrs Fred Tideman of Hearneys and their daughter Mrs H A Helstrum III of Dallas
In bowling action Tuesday Pat Richter of the Petunias rolled a high series of 511 and a top game of 233. Barbara Soles of Modern Beauty Shop posted the second high game 181. Cookie Johnson and Marie Buckley of the Blooming Idiots tied for second high series with 485 each.
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held at the City Halls of Hearne Texas on Monday July 10 1972 to consider the addition of a provision to Article XX of the Zoning Code to permit spot zoning and the enlargement.
A notice states that an application affecting parcels in R-1 R-2 R-3 Commercial and Industrial zones is to be processed under proper procedure. A copy of the application is on file with the City Secretary of Hearne Texas.
