Texas oil lease signed with Roxann on Clemens farm
The Roxann Petroleum Corporation of Virginia will drill for oil on the Clemens state farm in Brazoria County after a lease completed Wednesday with the prison commission. The commission receives a 20170 bonus plus royalties one eighth of oil and gas and 75 cents per ton of sulphur mined. Drilling must start by next December with no more than 60 days between wells. The lease covers 8218 acres except 50 acres around each convict camp retained by the prison system. If adjacent lands yield gas or sulphur, offset wells must be drilled.
