Water for Texas plan gains favorable comments from lawmakers
Austin legislators and water leaders praised a $3.7 billion preliminary Water Development Board proposal. The plan envisions a multi–reservoir and canal system linking San Antonio Guadalupe Lavaca Navidad waters to the Lower Rio Grande Valley, with a Texarkana to Dallas Fort Worth route and a 980 mile State Water Project network. It includes 14 reservoirs and 46 expansions, plus a West Texas plan to extend supplies, recharge Ogallala lakes, and study new Southwest water sources.
