DWI Charges After Hearne Car Truck Collision
Dallas man Ivan Nieto was charged with driving while intoxicated after a collision in Hearne last Saturday at 1 10 p m. The crash at Market and Brown Streets involved a Belton driven 1959 Chevrolet truck and a 1960 Oldsmobile. Passenger Joe Juarez Jr. suffered extensive head injuries. he was treated at Hearne General Hospital and later moved to Veterans Hospital in Temple in fair condition. Damage to the truck was about 350 dollars.

Housing Authority Awards Contracts For New Roofs

A&M Receives $66,193 Grant for Educational TV Station
AM University moves toward a new educational television station with federal funds totaling 66,193 dollars. Mel Chastain says the grant comes from the education broadcast facilities program of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, with a construction permit pending from the FCC. The station, on Channel 15, could be operating by year end, located at Bagley Hall, with about 88,000 dollars needed for transmitter and tower, supplemented by 22,000 dollars in local funds.
