Staff St Eugene Price husband of Mrs LaPrese Price and son of Mr and Mrs M S Price of 144143 B St arrived home Sep 6 from the South Pacific after 33 months in combat. He served on Guadalcanal and New Georgia with his company relieving the First Marines. He also spent time in New Caledonia and New Zealand. He was one of 12 in his company to take officer's running at Fort Benning, Georgia. He spent 10 days visiting relatives there and his wife will accompany him to Fort Benning where he will report for duty October.

Robbery Attempt Reported At Hayward Cleaner

J. Sullivan of Drive In Cleaners at 458 Calvo St. notified Hayward police at 6 30 p m Friday after finding a sprung lock tampered door and a bar used to pry the lock. The cash register showed scratches but nothing appeared missing. A screwdriver entry suspected. no theft reported.

Six Injured In Head-On Crash At Livermore

A two car head-on crash near Hagemann Ranch Road west of Livermore injured six people including Francis Judkins and Mario Ferrario. Judkins and passengers Ronald 9 and Clifford 7 suffered jaw fracture concussion and injuries while Ferrario sustained a fractured kneecap and skull lacerations. Passengers Angelo Battiani 41 and Louise Battiani 12 had a fore head laceration and sprained ankle. The crash occurred at 9 20 last night. police found no intoxication or drowsiness.

San Francisco Man Leaps to Death in Hudson River

A San Francisco man identified as Samuel Gordon of 598 Eddy Street leaped from the 95th Street Hudson River embankment after a passerby alerted police in New York. Patrolman Anthony Valpini jumped into the river to recover the body two blocks downstream. Gordon was pronounced dead.

Two Navy Men Saved When Trainer Crashes Off Coast

In California near Santa Rosa a torpedo trainer crashed ten miles west of Bodega Bay. Ens Robert Dixon led a rescue boat that saved Clarence Teige Palermo and Luther Johnson after a routine training flight originating from Santa Rosa naval auxiliary station. In Boston Seaman Frank Cocchi smashed a car window to rescue a baby in a locked vehicle and cared for the infant until the mother returned.
