New Bay Bridge Linking Mt Eden Area to San Mateo to Begin Soon
Construction will start within 30 days on a three mile span across San Francisco Bay from Little Coyote Point near San Mateo to west of Mt. Eden. The War Department authorized the project with an estimated cost up to 10 million dollars and an opening target of 18 months. Trustees Frank Towne Mark Noon and A W Deuel lead the syndicate behind the Raymond Construction Company as they push to build a low level bridge with a lift span for the main channel and future rail capacity.

The Holly Sugar Corporation plant at Alvarado will open around October 1 for a run of six to eight weeks. J A Logan field representative says the beet crop in the area will be processed. This is the first restart after closing three years ago with possible summer operation in future due to sugar beet production. Repairs are underway as the old plant is remodeled after inactivity.
