R W Morrison died suddenly of a heart attack at his home on Monday morning at age 57. He is survived by his wife and son William Morrison of Hayward. Funeral arrangements had not been made. Morrison, a native of North Dakota, had lived here about 16 years. Friends mourn his loss deeply.

Japanese Beetle Intercepted by Inspector in Crescent City
Oct. 12 report confirms larvae of the Japanese beetle were intercepted by Department of Agriculture inspectors in Crescent City. Director G. H. Hecke says the pest, among the most destructive to plants, was inadvertently introduced to the United States and has spread across Atlantic coast and central states. Live larvae were found in a tourist's baggage en route from Asbury Park, New Jersey to San Diego.
