The California Air Terminal company plans a $5 million airfield at Beresford on the San Mateo side of the Hayward San Mateo bay bridge. Land cost about $500,000 was paid to multiple estates. Traffic officer Irving Nelson is recovering from a foot fracture suffered in a prior accident. The cast came off four weeks ago and he is progressing well but remains on crutches. A return date to duty for the Hayward police is not yet known. The Nelsons narrowly escaped harm weeks earlier when they were nearly struck by a runaway team of horses in San Lorenzo while stopping for strawberries.
