War Today reports a major air offensive against Japan with fresh attacks by Superfortresses on the Japanese home islands and Saigon being battered, along with mining of inland seas to curb naval and merchant fleets. Doolittle and Anderson forecast a vast, evolving bomber push using B 28s, while European fronts shrink as Nazi forces in Bohemia near surrender.
Samuel Meira of the N & M Market swore out a complaint charging Barnes of 2474 A street with petty theft. A warrant was issued for his arrest and bail set at 100 dollars, which was posted. Barnes is to be arraigned and enter a plea on May 10.
More than 300 San Lorengans attended the installation dinner at the new San Lorenzo Community Church in the village center. Rev Momer A Schwarz spoke on building a community church under the northern California Congregational conference auspices. Kaiser representative Robert George urged collective effort and financial responsibility to keep the church vital. Miss Sophie Jorgensen received honors for long service, as Clyde Lawson presented a floral token. The dinner, under Mrs Warren Perkins, featured roast turkey for over 100 guests and the Wave Chorus from Shoemaker Naval Hospital performed.

Manuel Pacheco of 1626 D Street was arraigned before Judge Ja egh Harder Jy at City Hall on a five count felony dealing with statutory offenses. At the defendant's request the matter was continued to May 16 for counsels and plea. The offenses were charged against several individuals per records.
The first U S soldiers to be discharged under the point system, about 2500, will be released at various centers tomorrow as the War Department begins its partial demobilization. This group is the first of roughly 1,900,000 to be released over the next year, including long overseas service records. The other 3,000,000 Americans will depart to the United States or Eastern Theaters as ships allow. Deployment hinges on ship availability and immediate needs in the Pacific and China-Burma theaters, with battle casualties to be returned promptly.
American bombers wrecked the Japanese naval base at Saigon in French Indo China in seven strikes between April 22 and May 4.
