The 20-30 Broadcast may bring the University of Southern California orchestra to the Ayward district for a Wednesday evening program on station K2M. The event aims to debut new artists and showcase a wide variety of acts, with plans to feature KFRC vocal talent if secured.
Members of the Hasejo Bible Class at the Presbyterian church meet tonight at 7 30 in the church parlors for regular business discussion. Leaders urge attendance to voice input and govern by the majority with suggestions welcomed from all. Treasurer Dunn notes most dues paid with a few outstanding, remittances tonight appreciated.
Frederick J. Schott, an automobile salesman for H. C. Harrison in San Francisco, was booked on possible driving while intoxicated after a suspected hit-and-run at East 14th Street and 67th Avenue. Police recover car, note extensive damage consistent with striking a soft object. victim J. Wricht, a mechanic, hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Federated Improvement club plans to amend its bylaws to let club presidents automatically serve as delegates to the combined representative meeting. Currently three delegates from each club sit in. President N. C. P. Morse says the change would boost enthusiasm and unify the federation as it studies a water front plan to dredge a channel for freight boats along the Hayward estuary.
Professor Fred P. Johnson explains that 40000 in bonds is needed to settle debts from equipment and grounds work at Hiyward Union High School. He notes funds are for existing needs not new construction and cites past misperceptions. May 19 vote urged with bus plan rejected as too costly.
Hayward merchant Peter Brahl announces the sale of his Army Goods store to Joseph Bernstein of Oakland last January. Brahl and his son exit the Castro street location near the fire house after years of success and plan a move to 619 Castro street for a new men’s furnishings venture.
Olita V Schantz wife of Lee Schantz of Aiden road died at a local hospital at age 48 after a recent operation. Funeral services will be held May 5 at 1 30 from the Sorensen brothers chapel followed by burial in Stockton cemetery. She was a respected Harvard area resident and leaves a husband two parents a son and a brother plus several in laws. She was a member of Eastern Star and led the San Lorenzo Fire Girls.
Walter Flierl of Pratt Mortuary was appointed deputy coroner for Hayward yesterday by Coroner Grant Miller. He previously served as Oakland deputy for years and had a Hayward stint until county administration changes. The community hopes his workload remains light given the usually unfortunate nature of the duties.

Henry Clay Brewer, 55, of Irvington, dead by self inflicted gunshot Sunday morning. He told wife he planned to shoot gophers behind the barn before taking his life. Funeral at Sorensen Brothers parlors Hayward May 8 with Irvington Odd Fellows cemetery burial. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Wilforn Nelson and Jean Brewer and a brother J M Brewer.
Hayward contractor Jim Willison secures authority to add three classrooms to Ashland and two to Sunset schools at a total cost near fifteen thousand dollars. Work starts after contracts signed and aims for readiness at the fall semester opening.
Ashland students Pablo Hemenes Lorraine Foster Eloise Tamorano Nellie Lazaro Wilfred Resare Shigeru Nieda Misao Okada Kathleen Greely Eddie Mateo were chosen as custodians of the American flag for the coming week. Supt C E Lawson and family are new residents of Ashland Heights.

Decoto residents appear before Justice Harder for speeding cutting in and license issues. Several motorists are fined 5 to 15 dollars or lose licenses temporarily. Strawberries and other refreshments entertain the courtroom as officers host a strawberry festival with no fines levied on the fruit.
A city message notes contractors progressing on the bridge and mentions the Farm Products Show scheduled August 14 to 19. Mayor John Lee Wilbur signs the note with Hayward's regards, inviting attendance.
