Large bay crossing project spans seven miles from San Mateo to Hayward with five extra approach miles. The $7.56 million structure, the world’s longest highway bridge, uses concrete viaduct and five 200 foot steel spans. Construction begins dredging a 12.5 foot channel and piling drives in April, targeting June 1929 completion.

A coroner's jury exonerated the Southern Park railroad company and the train crew in the March 21 death of Saburo Koga, Irvington Japanese, at an Irvington crossing. Six Narrowly Escape Death When Car Skids Near Pleasanton
A sedan carrying Mr and Mrs F B Hines Mr and Mrs F I Steele of Redwood Road Mrs H E Davis and a two year old child overturned on wet pavement near Pleasanton after returning from Walnut Creek. Cars Collide on Niles Highway Sunday Afternoon
Locked brakes caused a skid on the Niles road, but no fatalities occurred. Passengers Mrs. J Dowdell of San Francisco suffered a fractured femur while H E Lewis, also of San Francisco, has a fractured leg. Both were treated at Hayward General before Lewis was moved to a San Francisco hospital. Lewis works for the Southern Pacific.

Worthless check artist's career ends in Hayward arrest
Leford Wallace 20, recently released from Jane State Reformatory, was arrested in Hayward on a charge of attempting to pass a nine dollar seventy five cent check at Al Frager haberdashery. He admitted the action under questioning and is held for further investigation and reform school checks.
