Palmtag Building to House Hayward Radio Station

Messrs Tenney and Hunter arrive in Hayward to finalize installation of KZ31 in the Palmtag and Hayward theatre buildings at Castro and B streets. The station aims to broadcast before April 1 with aerial towers planned and studios, offices, and a sizable transmitter area. Local support and congressional backing cited as key to the rapid setup.

Presbyterians Ask Rev Lukens to be Their Pastor

At a Wednesday gathering the Presbyterian church voted unanimously to invite Rev C E Lukens to become regular pastor and approved a salary to attract him. Lukens, who has supplied the pulpit for two months after moving from San Francisco, has impressed leaders and attracted new attendees. The plan to present the matter to proper authorities was approved with moderators and clerks named for the process.

Peas Make Money for Orchard Warder

In Hayward district the light pea crop yielded some farmers strong profits. Antone Lawrence, of Hayward Heath, reports eight sacks for a net $44 about $8 per sack, with 75 pound sacks. His family continues harvesting at high prices while others left land fallow.

Chicken Dinner By Ladies Aid Draws Many At Church

The Cherryland division of the Methodist church Ladies Aid served a chicken dinner at the B street church. About 150 people attended from 4 to 2 thirty with meals and a sale of doll laundry bags and woven rugs. The event, despite rain, raised three dollars and fifty cents for the group.
