AAUW Hoyward Branch Promotes War Work And Arts
In its fourth year since organization in March 141, Hays award branch of the American Association of University Women continued war work through operating the USO library and canteen, serving on bank rights, and aiding fund drives. The book section met weekly to expand USO setup books for service men overseas and in hospitals. A new interior decorating study group formed, monthly meetings kept, and ticket tallies for annual party and belt sale completed. The fall meet of AAUW welcomed new and prospective members at Botany grounds. Membership increases allow more meetings in halls. A successful May sale supported by members aided community projects. The group presented Gitte Black Lumber by Palo Alto Little Theatre under Maynard Branch AAUW, showing need for adult and children's theatre groups. The branch maintains sustaining membership and sponsors Wingward Avon Community Theatre.
