Glenn Dies At Denver Army Hospital
Corporal Warren F. Glenn who contracted an illness in the South Pacific died at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver on May 24. He was buried in a military funeral at Arroyo Grande California on May 29. He was the son of Mrs Ira C. Glenn and brother of Mrs W M Webster both of Hayward. Glenn served with the aviation battalion of the army engineers and had worked at the naval supply depot in Oakland before entering service. He attended schools in southern California.

Truck Driver Suffers Burns Near Mountain House
Charles M. Brabbin of Oakland Drayage Service Corporation reported his tractor trailer on State route 5A near Mountain House catching fire. He found the trailer floor boards aflame and the fire spread to a plywood load. Brabbin suffered burns to his hands while emergency crews extinguished the blaze. He was taken to Tracy for medical treatment.

California’s Bear Flag will soon fly on a Marianas island thanks to Staff Sgt Donald C Judd and help from Maynard Chamber of Commerce and Eden Parlor Native Song. Judd urged action after seeing other states’ banners raised there, prompting officials to forward the request to Eden Parlor Native Sons. The flag, a Native Sons emblem, is en route to Tuc today. Judd’s home is 596 A Street where his wife and baby daughter await his return after hostilities end.

Prisoner Release News From World War II Hero
Private Holcomb Edward Haward Holcomb, a member of the 10th Infantry Division, was captured by the Nass in Italy last September 14. He was released from a German prisoner camp about a month ago and sent to the United States, reaching Boston per a telegram on Decaration Day. His mother Mrs Eula Ta Holcomb, 622 Dean Street, reports little knowledge of his current condition as seven months of internment followed his service began in September 1942. He trained in Colorado Arkansas and California, returned home on leave in April 1944 before overseas duty, and attended Hayward Union High School prior to enlistment.
