Four Hayward men Howard Irish James Irish and Lawrence Larson aboard a Santa Cruz fishing schooner hauled in a large devil fish after a 150 foot fight. They planned a public exhibit but the octopus died. Garden party and Market Day set for August 8 at Memorial park to aid Hill and Valley club funds. Hayward weekly newspaper the Hayward Journal is sold to J. J. Motzko of Vallejo by Clyde Brown who purchased it months ago from Bertha Stuart. Company F Cook To Provide Corn Feed for Legion

Strubles Return From Hawaii Vacation

Kentucky Stables License Revoked
Alameda county supervisors revoked the license of the Kentucky stables on Foothill boulevard near the Fair Mount hospital after complaints that high school boys and girls were admitted and drunken orgies were staged. Women operatives raided the place, confiscated 20 bottles of liquor, and reported to District Attorney Earl Warren that most patrons were juveniles. One girl was found unconscious and another was dancing in a semi nude condition.

Four Musketeers Return From Yosemite Park Flight
Dr John Scribner and Ed Friedrichs Jr flew the first pursuit wave over Yosemite chasing peaks while seeking a landable site. After three and a half hours in the air they returned to Merced where another pilot ferried them back to the park. Captain Al Frager and Belton Fleisher traveled by car, claiming Frager can spin a tailspin from a mule in the park. All four were back by Friday evening.
