Bid Window Opens for Niles to Hayward Highway Contract
Jack Casson departed for Sacramento on Wednesday morning to submit the bid for reconstructing the Niles to Hayward highway. Bids are to be opened today. In social news the Blue Monday Friendship club met at Foothill boulevard with new members Harriet Roodebush and Charlotte Stephens. Miss Helle Jardine of Honolulu spoke on the Hawaiian islands and performed dances and songs. Prizes were awarded to Miss Clara Chavis and Miss Harriet Roodebush after whist. A midnight supper featured flowers and favors. The Episcopal church Men’s club whist party is planned for Thursday with Ralph Ward and others announcing high score prizes and refreshments.

San Jose Boy, 12, Charged With Murder in Playmate Shooting
Special to The Review Chief J. M. Block swears murder against Robert Jorgensen 12 for the fatal shooting of Emmet Lee Cox aged ?. The preliminary hearing is set for Thursday in juvenile court. Authorities say Jorgensen admitted firing a rifle from a barn window “Just to scare” Emmet. The boy was surrendered by his father H. C. Jorgensen when the rifle was found.
