A Hayward Youth Center site search was promised aid, and Herbert Way was re elected chairman with George Simonds as secretary. The panel plans to continue discussion at the February 28 meeting.

The City Employees association held installation ceremonies at their regular meeting last night with Lou Silva of the fire department becoming president. Other officers installed were William Wilford as vice president, Fred Vari as sergeant at arms, and Helen Alvas as secretary. Members discussed the pension and retirement plan recently submitted to the city, a survey is being conducted, and no further action can be taken until completion. Refreshments followed the meeting.

Harry Hopkins longtime confidant of presidents and world leaders died quietly in Memorial hospital New York at age six or possibly sixty due to ill health. He had served with F D Roosevelt and later as special adviser to President Truman after resigning his $15000 salary last July to rest. Hopkins fate remains unclear with doctors citing an obscure ailment after eleven weeks of treatment.
Funeral services for Jack La Verne Thomson, a Navy pharmacist mate second class and member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, will be held Saturday afternoon in Andley's workuiy in Wy Thomson. He was killed Sunday after stepping in front of a car driven by James N. Hatlock of Bellflower near Bakersfield. Survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Harlin Thomson of Walnut Grove and sisters Barbara Jean, Mrs Snes Psalmond of Bakersfield, and Mrs Russell Leslie of Wat suvil le. He had served overseas in the South Pacific and prior to discharge visited Yosemite National Park.
