The Old Timers Night event at Hayward Fire Station failed to draw many veterans despite pep among younger members. Fire Chief Manuel Riggs led a brief tribute to City Trustee Simons who died that morning, and George Schilling, said to be the oldest in service, recalled pre 1890 era records.

Man Gets 30 Days For Beating Wife

Angelo Tores 27 of 25 Yolo street faced Judge Jacob Harder on a battery charge from his wife Emily. He admitted losing his temper and striking her with a shoe. Emily returned to press charges. Tores appeared again but refused to discuss terms. He was sentenced to 20 days in county jail with no alternative.

Revue to Entertains With Outside Inn at Hayward Theater

The Skyrocket Revues company returns after a favorable premiere to present Outside Inn at the local picture and vaudeville palace next Sunday. The plot follows an old couple and four young lovers who marry in a humorous town hotel while the hotel man’s comic misjudgments spark the wedding.
