Police and deputies investigated a burglary at the Haag Ogaard automobile agency. Robbers entered the rear door, opened the safe, took about $50 to $56 in cash, and left before Saturday morning without arrests. Fingerprints were collected as investigators worked the scene.
The Business and Professions' Women's club holds a regular meeting next Tuesday evening to discuss business matters. President Mrs Minnie Seaver aims for full member attendance. A board meeting precedes dinner and speaker Mrs Horace Manson discusses the London naval conference. February birthday hostesses are noted, with a February 16 district meeting to San Francisco requiring reservations.

George G Saxoner of the Methods Church became program committee chairman. The group includes seven Hayward Protect- byline.
Twenty boys from the Bret Harte school join a new Four-H club supplementing the girls. Rex P. Stoneburn leads as captain with the group meeting monthly at the Farm Bureau office. Projects include poultry pigeons and rabbits with guidance and exhibits discussed by W. G. Waterhouse assistant supervisor for Coast counties.
The Health Center hosts a tea at 3 pm Monday where Dr. G. Berry, dean of the University of California Dental College, speaks on Preventive Dentistry. Dr. Ralph Wagner reports on recent dental services and preventive measures to be used in schools. Officials and service clubs, PTA groups invited.
Citizens living in the Rayword school district with entries on the old or new voter lists more than 39 days before are eligible to vote in the February 13 election for 78 000 echeo funds. Polling will be at the Mexico Bannerhoot Boy Scout room from 8 am to 5 pm with polling place open for the day.
A Valentine party is planned for the Hayward Veterans club next Friday. Members will share valentines for a club collection. Don Kubworth spoke on the Hancock foundation aviation training at Santa Maria, aiming to train men with military discipline at low cost. Kubworth hopes to join Company F to gain experience for expanding the school.
Chief of Police Louis Silva reports city workers began marking diagonal parking lanes in Castro Valley business district. West side of Castro Street between A and B and north side of A Street were painted Saturday morning. Future blocks include upper B Street near churches. A Cave Valley baseball clash with Mac Art Basket at Castro Valley School Sunday at 2 PM.
Four Oakland youths were injured when two cars collided head on on the Dublin road between Dublin and Santa Friday night. Vernon F. Dorr, 22, was critically injured with a fractured leg. The lighter car overturned after a multiple rollover leaving names of Miss Irene Markowits 18 and Miss Blanche Brown 16 unconfirmed as drivers amid uncertain who was behind the wheel.
Robert Freeman 88, federal protection agent from San Francisco, died after three bullet wounds in the chest during a raid on the South home. John South of Napa faced murder charges, liquor possession, and resisting an officer. Bail set at 1600 for murder and 1000 for other charges.
A coroner's jury found that complications after a recent automobile accident caused the death of C. O. Johnson. Driver Joseph Souza, who struck Johnson, was absolved of blame. The inquest was led by Deputy Coroner Walter Friek at Pratt Funeral Home. Funeral services for Johnson were held at Sorensen Brothers' mortuary.
E. B. Perry and R. W. Borneman were both described as recovering from recent illnesses. Borneman had influenza for a week at his Castro Valley home and resumed duties with Hayward Poultry sedestation. Perry also spent several days recuperating at his Castro Valley residence.
Hayward Garden club and affiliated groups organize Castro Street inspection and grounds beautification at Fairview school. Officers to be elected and entry list for a gardening contest closes February 26. Verbenia cuttings and tools urged. program planned for Valle Vista Improvement event and Lincoln birthday holiday activities.
Alameds County Firemen's association holds its first post organization meeting February 20 at the Alpine hotel East 164th street Oakland. Fire Chief Al Moir Castro Valley president and Chief Manuel G. Riggs Hayward canvass southern county areas to drum up attendance. Expected crowd about 150 to 260 including Hayward and Castro Valley members. Speeches by Jay Stevens R A Raper and Prof Woodbridge Metcalf. Oakland Fire Department orchestra and singers to perform during banquet from 6 to 8:30 after the meeting.
Hayward attorney Mitchell will deliver a Lincoln address at a Knights of Columbus meeting and banquet Tuesday evening at Bank of Haywards hall. Edward K. Stanton and Arthur Cardoza organize the program. many visiting knights from the east bay region expected.
The city completed underground installation of fire alarm system segments on the business district on Saturday. Frank Electric Company carried out the work at a cost of $3866. Pacific Gas & Electric removed many Castro Street poles, with lines moved underground. Pacific Telephone and Telegraph will remove its poles on Castro and upper B Street starting Monday. The old system wires atop poles have been eliminated, ending their use.
The Lions club birthday party featured cakes by Versic bakery miscredited for years. Mr and Mrs Versic spent hours on cakes frosted with a Western design for Dr Don Manley Dr Herman Begert Robert Kraai and Harry Myers.
The Federated Improvement clubs of Southern Alameda County plan a Thursday meeting at Edwin Markham school to elect a new administration led by president T G Hodgkins. They will discuss the Alameda County fair site and a county wide agricultural and industrial exposition while planning a masquebell and banquet at Burbank and Masonic halls with music prizes and dancing.
The Company F basketball squad begins final push for the championship as they hold the second battalion title and set a game against Company L of San Francisco at Berbenk School next Friday or Saturday. Berkeley and Oakland companies have not completed their battalion contests. A planned game with Ban Athletic Club was canceled. a practice match with Madsen Valley store team was held instead.
A Disabled American Veterans event at Burbank School features J. D. Schrader as fiddler and caller for old-time dances with the Goose Quill Orchestra. Gourader and Dale Lrong play violin, Mrs Schrader at the piano, and Barry Chaffee leads drums in a five-piece set. Soldier Joe Pestin, radio entertainer, among listed performers.
A gray goose at Dr. U. S. G. Arnold's Martinsburg home has served as a loyal household pet and car guardian for about 20 years. The bird perches beside the doctor while he makes calls and is noted for unusual intelligence in guarding the automobile.

Two lonely women seeking husbands were unexpectedly rewarded after an informal garden gathering at Mrs. Florence Eichwald’s Sunset Boulevard home. Bird enthusiasts including Mr and Mrs Leland Smith and Mr and Mrs Joseph Gittard facilitated matching two pink-beaked Siamese parrots with the women, leading to hopeful marriages as the parrots found mates and the couples settled in El Nido.
Mrs. Leer Ferreira, 14,000 she sought and obtained a divorce from her husband Jesse Ferreira. She alleged he attacked her and threatened to kill her when she refused to run the tractor any longer on her artichoke farm in San Francisco.
