Woman Held As Baby Dies In Airwell
Los Angeles reports a 20 day old infant, Harl Stephen Johnson, died after being thrown from the 12th floor airwell of the I. N. Van Nuys building. Mrs. Marion Johnson, 3, held on suspicion of murder after claiming the baby was stolen while she slept. An elevator operator led officers to the 12th floor where the child was taken. Witnesses described a distressed woman with the infant on the 11th floor. The baby’s mother identified the child and indicated she did not remember details. Arnold Johnson, the child’s father, left four years ago after their marriage.

Charles Dana Gibson renowned as the creator of the Gibson Girl died of heart disease at his New York home at age 77. His physician said he had left home only twice since September after a prior attack. At Camp Parks California two Seabees spent spare hours decorating a 60 foot boom tree on the parade ground. CG A Shelley sprayed a large tree while L P Myers hoisted him aloft for ornament work crafted from interlocking metal strips. The finished tree shines before the Administration building as Camp Parks crews, many overseas, enjoy a full Christmas program of games, shows, concerts, and a children’s party despite being away from home.
