Railroader Dies at Irvington Crossing After Collision
James Albert Toble of Center ville was killed at the Southern Pacific crossing on Highway 17 at Irvington when a gas motor car on the tracks collided with a truck and trailer driven by Leonard W. Parry of Bella Vista. Parry said he did not see the motor car until near the crossing. Toble attempted a left maneuver and was run over, dragged 73 feet, as witnesses noted. The safety signal was not operating at the time.
