Six Injured in Hayward Auto Accidents Weekend
A dozen injuries occurred in four collisions near Hayward between Saturday and Sunday. Notable crash on East 14th Street near Ashland school left J Freitas of Oakland and Mrs. Stern of Castro Valley with minor injuries and Freitas' car missing wheels. Other incidents involved Domingo Ferrera and Edith Whitner on First and D Street, and John Gormer with E F Marion near the Ashland school. Caroline Brown and Katherine Brown suffered cuts on Alvarado road. The Hayward Garden Club luncheon at the Christensen residence featured buckeye trees and a formal display planning for the San Leandro California Flower Show with prize ambitions and requests for floral donations.

Charles Greenwood known as Dusty Greenwood returned from the Tracy district to supervise dusting of gardens and orchards. His sulphur mix of porgy sulfur and calcium arsenate paralyzes worms after one hour and requires three dustings. Contracts include a 3906 acre Dos Palos job. over 10 000 acres were dusted in Strathmore Porterville citrus districts. E Wheeler of Merced praised the results.

Rabbitry to Exhibit New Zealand Reds in Stockton
E. G. Rush of Rush Rabbitry on Niles road will enter an exhibit of New Zealand reds and whites at the San Joaquin County fair in Stockton starting Monday. Three Arrested in Alleged Plot to Assassinate Governor

Man Arrested Over 11 Year Absence Faces Support Charge

In Homestead district a Holy Ghost festival drew about 1560 Portuguese society members over two days. Festivities featured flags, fireworks, and music by the American Legion band. Hayward Guardsmen Return From San Luis Obispo Training
Hayward's National Guard Company F of the 159th infantry comes home after two weeks of training at the San Luis Obispo camp. A crowd greeted the unit at the Southern Pacific station as the train arrived from the south. The guardsmen earned several meet honors including first in 226 yard dash, first in shot put, and top marksman in automatic rifle shooting.

Operation Fatal To Newark Man
Yoshio Ando of Newark died early morning at Harvard Central hospital after an operation. He was 27, born in Japan. He is survived by his brother Fumio Ando of Newark. Funeral services will be held at Pratt Mortuary at his late home in Newark at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, followed by interment at the California Columbarium.

Shotgun Threat Sparks Cherryland Police Action
A man, Manuel Pereira, threatened Steve Silva with a shotgun at one o clock in the morning after driving to Silva’s Standish and Medford avenues home. Officers found a 75 gallon liquor still in Pereira’s nearby barn with 30 gallons of new liquor and 600 gallons of mash. Pereira awaits filing of charges in the county jail.

Between 300 and 469 members of Knights of Columbus councils from Hayward and San Leandro with families attended the annual Stonybrook park picnic in Niles canyon Sunday. Hayward schools report 1700 children enrolled in elementary grades as new families move in this summer. Principal Robert M. Reid notes 224 of the pupils are new, many coming from Oakland while parents relocate to Hayward. Over 240 regular pupils are working in the first shift and will begin school after summer break. BROKEN BOW Neb. hosts a 500 horse bucking show and steer parade for the Custer County Fair with J L Case of Sutherland supplying stock and other acts. The fair runs August 19 to 22.
