Twenty to thirty clubs gathered for a large Reno event with a parade led by Hayward scouts. Delegates arrived by special train, toured the city, and attended a luncheon and business session at the Century club. A Lawton Springs dance capped the visit as Fresno was named next convention host.

Company F Returns to Hayward After Camp De Monte Training
Company F, Hayward's National Guard unit, returned Saturday afternoon to a large crowd at the Southern Pacific station. The cavalcade, greeted by the Hayward Cry Band, Chamber of Commerce Secretary Jacob Harder, and many citizens, conveyed to the Armory where duties were relieved and families awaited. Captain Voorhees praised improvements since last year and thanked locals for Governor's Day reception.

Madsen Team Defeats McGregors In Lopsided Contest
The Madsen Variety team overwhelmed the McGregors 56 to 4 in a hard fought game. Buzz Bedford delivered a three base hit and strong pitching by Jimmy Gotschalk limited the McGregors to four hits. Gottschalk injured a ankle in the ninth while Manuel Flores starred at short with ten chances error free. The Madsens next face the Car men's Union as locals anticipate another bout.

Palomares Improvement Club Welcomes New Members
The Palomares improvement club held a Friday meeting at Palomares grammar school August 12. New members Mrs Laura Garcia Mrs Rosie Maciel and Mrs Olga Vane were initiated by President Mrs Upham. Ideal picnic day at Niles Canyon hosted by Federated Clubs
Ideal weather greeted the hundreds of picnickers at Stonnbrook Park Niles Canyon on Sunday for the Federated Improvement Clubs of Eden Township outing. About 120 cars entered, visitors enjoyed free coffee and cream, and a five piece orchestra opened the luncheon with a lively jazz number.

Dryden Birds Sweep Petaluma Egg Laying Contests
The Derden Poultry Breeding farm pen of White Leghorns at Concord won the Petaluma July egg laying contest with 237 eggs and the No 1 egg count of 235. A separate Dryden pen won July honors at Santa Cruz with 247 eggs, beating a Washington entry at 233. One Dryden hen set a local high with 29 eggs. 11 entries from six states competed.

Anniversary Of To be Observed Green Shutter Hotel Event
