Ulysses Sheldon Attix a 34 year old lawyer was found dead in his Taylor Street hotel room. Coroner says autopsy reveals severe heart condition. Attix son of Mr and Mrs U S Attix of San Francisco. prominent local resident active in Lions Club and San Lorenzo Village affairs. Surviving are his wife Nolen and children and brothers Lycet and William Gi. Attix.
Leny Stevens, 23, of Russell City, remained unconscious at Highland Hospital today after injuries from falling from a moving auto on Russell City Road during a dispute with her husband Steve Stevens over their six month old child. The couple resided in a Gypsy camp near Russell Road and Washington Street.
Hayward's housing authority signed contracts with the Federal Pursuc Housing authority to install 49 veterans housing units on city property. The state will cover 90 percent of utility sewer main and road costs under PPITA. Final state funds application will be completed after surveys by City Engineer John Mancini. FPHA plans to move in units next week. a state submission likely at a special meeting Tuesday night.
Hollywood filed writ shows Danny Kaye sought dismissal of an eviction case filed by landlord Mrs. Murlés Rosen bloom. Court ordered him to prove he did not poke holes in walls or break windows at the tar house.
The House failed to override President Truman's veto of a bill granting states title to tidelands. Vote was 195 against override, 17 short of two thirds. Debate was minimal as supporters pressed for action while the pending Supreme Court case on federal title to tidelands loomed.
Two false alarms were reported within a half hour of each other last night. City firemen answered a false alarm on Witton road at 4:30 p.m. Ashland firefighters were called to 150th and Foothill at midnight. The Ashland department was summoned by the county patrol and also responded to a grass fire along the highway at 2nd and Poothin. A discarded cigarette butt started the blaze burning dry grass across several yards.
Betty Peary, 37, ex-wife of radio star the Great Gildersleeve, was convicted of drunkenness in New York court today and fined 20 dollars.

Veteran Sen. K. D. McKellar was renominated for a sixth term as unofficial returns showed him ahead with 142,642 votes to Carmack 82,928. Crump supporter Goo d I nk McCord led Browning in a separate race, with McCord at 146,220 and Browning 89,865 as results trickled in from most counties.
A nighttime collision one half mile east of Winton Road and Hesperian Boulevard injured three people. Rubin Beltram, 21, of Russell City, drove into the rear of a station wagon driven by Pedro Mores, 22, of Deento. Jenny O Rivers, 25, of Russell City, suffered serious fractures and facial injuries. Raphael Yaryen, 20, of Russell City, had cuts and bruises but no hospitalization.

The first open peace conference split between the Soviet bloc and Western nations emerged as Poland withdrew a motion seeking special rights to sit on Hungarian treaty commissions. Molotov backed Poland while Byrnes urged a vote against, but the bloc held the edge and the motion was dropped to avoid a formal test. Tass later condemned Byrnes for not backing a Big Four procedural recommendation.
