Raine Heads Houston Company as Captain in Training
After organizing the Cc. O. Raine Jr unit Cap tain Raine was elected with Huckley as First Lieutenant and Helm as Second Lieutenant. A meeting in the Mrs Tim Dorris building as a budding armory featured instruction and drills for recruits. Raine warned married men would be discharged if called to war and urged full drills ahead of the Sedalia encampment to show the Hayti company as best drilled at the state fair.

Five Hundred Party Hosted by Mrs Ward Dorris
Mrs Ward Dorris entertained a large circle of friends with a Five Hundred party on Thursday night. Miss Jon Brown won the first prize for the highest score.
