Oratorical Contest Winners Shine at Caruthersville
The annual oratorical contest at Caruthersville High School drew twelve contestants, three boys and nine girls, at the Presbyterian church. Agatha La Forge won the girls medal for The Spinning Wheel Scene from the Courtship of Miles Standish, while Jack McCutcheon took the boys medal with Supposed Speech of John Adams on the Declaration of Independence. Judges were Mrs. Elizabeth Brassfield, Kennett. Prof. Stewart, Sikeston. and Prof. H. L. Davidson, Hayti.
