Fire destroys round house and shops of railroad
A blaze north of the depot at the St. Louis Kennett and Southeastern railroad destroyed the round house and machine shops, wrecking a passenger coach under overhaul and several cars. One worker suffered severe burns but escaped largely, and the railroad expects about 1500 to 2000 dollars in damage. The fire halted traffic temporarily. personnel investigated power plant sites in nearby towns.

Hot, dry conditions around 100 degrees led to many unable to walk, with officers hissed at as they rode past. Ambulances filled with the sick and private Wiens pressed into service while locals supplied water from wells and cisterns. The weather department was petitioned to reroute the expedition by train to ease the ordeal.

Crane accident at Pascom rail yard scalds two workers
While loading logs at Pascom on Wednesday of last week a loader crane struck a guy wire across the railroad tracks. The boom shot into the boiler room bursting steam pipes and badly scalding Geo Hall and Frank Cook, fireman and engineer. Dr Trautman has visited daily and reports the men retting along nicely.
