Murder at Cooter sparks fatal club assault
At a July 1 dance in Cooter Ed Decker was struck by Herbell Webs. Decker died Monday from the blow. Webs, a 16 year old married man, was captured while attempting to board a steamer at Cottonwood Point, Mo. He is jailed in Caruthersville. Train Wreck Near Houck Depot Delays Service
Last Saturday morning a switch engine derailed opposing the Houck depot while returning from Caruthersville with a car of five. The rails spread at the switch for about ten feet on each side and lacked inside spikes. Engineer Pineh and Conductor Gordon were in charge. No serious injuries and only slight delay resulted.

New steel laid on Gulf branch to Pascola and Kennett
New and heavier steel has been laid on the Gulf branch of the Frisco as far as Pascola and will be continued to Kennett. The old stove is being sold for use on the Kennett to Piggott line. This improvement allows heavier and faster engines and boosts traffic, mainly through Hayti.
