Senator Von Mayer Democrat from the Twenty third District is profiled. Born October 21 1876 in Union City Tennessee he trained in Malden Missouri Union City Tennessee and Searcy Arkansas Military College. A lawyer admitted in 1899 he served Pemiscot County as representative in 1914 and state senator in 1916. He chaired the Railroads and Internal Improvements Committee in the Forty ninth General Assembly and sat on Judiciary Ways and Means Life Fraternal and Other Insurance and Workmen’s Compensation and Criminal Jurisprudence committees. The piece calls him a tireless public servant and predicts continued influence in the Fiftieth General Assembly.

Morrison, a former Circuit Clerk candidate who lost narrowly to Ernest A Long, has strong backing in the Democratic Central Committee.

Senator Von Mayes left today at noon for Kansas City to attend a committee meeting of the Statute Revision Committee appointed by Gov Gardner. The session will last about two days before he proceeds to Jefferson City for talks in the capitol regarding the upcoming general assembly.
The Caruthersville area town papers report two Pemiscot County youths wounded. Chester Watts of Hayti and Charles B. Herndon of Caruthersville were severely injured. Herndon lost his leg below the knee after a bursting shell. Watts lost most of his foot to a machine gun shell. Both will be cripples for life. Mrs. Nannie Pullem of Washington was informed that her son, Private Frankie Lee Pullen, was wounded September 30 with undetermined injuries. more information will follow.
Three month old full-blooded Duroc Hampshire pigs offered by L. E. Rice in Hayti. Males priced at 10 dollars each and females at 12.50 dollars. Also one fine sow with six pigs available for 60 dollars.
W. E. Hopkins and wife were in Bloomfield the first of last week due to the serious illness of his brother Dan Hopkins who died on Wednesday. Many friends in this city are sorry to learn of his death.

Sedalia Missouri December 4 The Missouri State Grange elected officers with C O Raine of Hayti named State Master and J M Rainwater Kirksville as Secretary Lula Ququa Hannibal and L W Vickers Gregory named other officers Also John Stevenson Ten Mile elected to a three year term on the Executive Committee Raine, a prominent farmer and good roads booster, advocates completing the Pembscot to Dunklin state highway.
