Hayti readers list new subscribers Mrs. Mattie Rooker and Geo. S. Coppedge. Notices include farm land for rent, court visits by J. J. Bandy and F. M. Perkins, laundry and barber services, new Home at Caruthersville, and local purchases from J. L. Dorris. Several residents travel to Kennett, Steele, and St. Louis, with births, sales, and ads for mules, lumber, and mufflers.
The Modern Woodman elected officers including Consul B S Stearne, Advisor John Buckley, Clerk J L Delashmutt, Banker G K Chigm, Escort J W Johnson, Physician Gud Edwards, Watchman Lee Byrd and Board of Managers member C W Salivant. The lodge plans a holiday fruit supper funded from its funds, free to Woodman members and families.
The baby of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Lynn is ill this week. John Hampton was called home from court Friday due to his baby’s congestive chill. A Mr. White was arrested for seducing a fifteen year old girl at Clayfoot and taken to Caruthersville jail. Hartwell Bros. open new butcher shop. Miss Blanche Manuel returns from Charleston visit. Mrs. Della Glass and Mrs. Grooms visit from Little River. Will Powell and Louis Sanders visit from Holland. Mr. and Mrs. Stucker of Stoneford, Ill., visit Mrs. B. Millhorn. Chas. Morgan’s butcher shop promotes fresh meats and courteous service. Rev. T. G. Fallin returns from Murphysboro. J. L. Dorris and R. A. Speed advertise winter wear. R. A. Speed moves to Bogota, Tenn., and has Herald sent there. Hayti grist mill offers corn grinding or meal exchange any day. D. C. Massey of Texas visits his brother near Concord. Local readers urged to settle small Herald accounts promptly at month’s end.
Judge W W Tarkington receives a letter from C C Stahmann State Superintendent thanking Hayti Missouri for a generous gift of two barrels of fruit for destitute children under care. The donor expresses appreciation and blessings.
Adaes probate readers should note the adjourned term of probate court set for Wednesday December 15 1909. Those with probate business are advised to attend. The Herald circulation note mentions Fred Hudgens on the mailing list and hayti mill ready for business. J L Dorrin offers Klosefit petticoats in all sizes and colors. A Texas editor explains his refusal to print an obituary, citing that the deceased are long gone and no public concern.
