World Wide Communion Sunday to be observed worldwide

The World Wide Communion Sun day will be celebrated October 4 in Protestant churches worldwide. In the United States the event is sponsored by the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America with overseas support from the World Council of Churches and other groups. A house to house canvass aims to recruit attendees for six Sundays beginning October 4, targeting about 15 million Protestants at communion services, including union services. Northwestern University in Evanston is helping plan a postwar memorial chapel. Archbishop Francis Spellman of the Roman Catholic Church emphasizes religion and morality as pillars of patriotism.

Mrs Ruth Mongey Worrell Named First Executive Secretary

Ruth Mongey Worrell of Columbus Ohio elected as the first executive secretary of the United Council for Church Women. She will move to New York in September to open an office at 156 Fifth Avenue.
