Old Teamsters Reunion Set for Labor Day at Klein's Hall

The annual Old Teamsters Reunion will be held Monday September 6 at Klein's Hall Spring Creek with a 230 PM business meeting and Pehl's Old-Time German Band providing music. A barbecue starts at 6 PM and many officers and directors are listed.

Mrs Mary L L Stevens a longtime Harper resident and co author of the 1963 Harper Centennial book Here Harper died August 31 at Sid Peterson Hospital Kerrville aged 74 She taught in Harper and Ingram and was active in Delta Kappa Gamma Trinity University Alumni and the Harper Presbyterian Church She is survived by her daughter Mary Virginia Holekamp and five grandchildren Funeral services were held September 2 at 2 00 p m in the Harper Presbyterian Church with interment in Harper Cemetery.

Operation Motorcide targets Labor Day traffic deaths in Texas

Texas DPS director Speir estimates 52 deaths over the Labor Day weekend and launches Operation Motorcide with media cooperation. Uniformed officers will patrol highways using radar and breath testing to enforce laws, with three daily fatal accident briefings from DPS headquarters during the 6 p.m. Friday to midnight Monday period.
