Gustav Roeder 83 retired farmer died October 10 at Hill Country Memorial Hospital after one day there. He lived at 414 W. Austin St for 30 years and was born January 24, 1888 in Gillespie County. He married Anna Wunderlich in 1910 at St Marys Fredericksburg. she survives with siblings and brothers. Funeral services October 12 at Schaetter Funeral Chapel and St Marys Catholic Church. Interment in St Marys cemetery.
Austin state representative Price Daniel Jr. of Liberty filed with the Secretary of State a report listing all campaign contributions and sources he has received for his bid to be Speaker of the Texas House in the 63rd Session. Daniel said the disclosure reflects his reform program and urged other Speaker candidates to follow suit. He noted his support for a law mandating full financial disclosures from all Speaker candidates and pledged periodic updates.
An Air Force Art Exhibit featuring over 40 original paintings from the Air Force Collection will run October 19 to 24 at Wonder Land Shopping Center San Antonio. Sponsored by the Kal VFW the exhibit is free to the public from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
At Milam Hall the Put Information committee of the Gillespie County Unit ACS outlines goals to inspire volunteers raise cancer awareness and explain the ACS program to the community The effort aims to support the April crusade with donors The meeting lists co chairs Mrs A G Carroll and Mr Richard Kasper plus members from Doss Kerrville and Harper High School attendees and speakers including District Attorney Robert Barton.
A countywide event offers a special preview of cancer film excerpts for teachers on Monday October 18 at 3:30 PM in Milam Hall chaired by Mrs Armand Crenwelge of the American Cancer Society Public Education committee. A second showing is announced for those who missed the first.
