Harper Drug Store Remodels into Real Estate Office

M R Duderstadt and his wife return to Harper from Kerrville and remodel the old Harper Drug Store Building on Main Street adjacent to the post office. The frame structure built between 1900 and 1905 once housed A C Wendel’s drug business and remains unoccupied since 1939. St Anthony Festival Prize Winners Named in Harper

Prizes at the St Anthony Catholic Church Fall Festival in Harper on October 3 included a Bicentennial quilt won by Anthony Lange six weeks old, son of Patrick and Mrs. Lange of Arlington and grandson of the Langes of Harper. Other prizes listed were a men's watch to Jason Whitehead a 38 sockets prize to Leo Heinemann a $50 savings bond to Frank Staudt and ladies luggage.

Texas Parks to Get 61.1 Million Under Bicentennial Act

The National Park Service outlines a 61.1 million Texas allotment under President Ford’s Bicentennial Land Heritage Act. Big Thicket National Preserve receives 37.3 million for 49,534 acres. Guadalupe Mountains National Park gets 13.9 million. Other Texas sites include Big Bend 4.5 million and Padre Island among funds for construction, rehab, and staffing.
