Governor Daniel Urges Press to Save Texas Lives on Highways

Gov. Price Daniel urged Texas newspaper readers and media groups at the 11th annual Texas Press Association convention to join a drive to reduce highway fatalities. He cited over 2,000 deaths in Texas in 1957 and urged a continued, broader effort by press, radio, and TV to promote safer driving and law enforcement toward saving 500 lives in the coming year. He announced a Texas Traffic Safety Committee chaired by Brad Smith to coordinate these efforts.

Women’s Auxillary elects new officers in Kerrville meet

The Hill Country Chapter of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Texas Shop and Goat Raisers’ Association met in Kerrville on February 1 at Casa de Loma with Mrs. Dale Priour in charge. Missionary Commissioning Forms New Group Of Seventeen

Two Centex Projects Get Nod By Panel

The House agriculture committee approved two watershed soil conservation projects in Central Texas Knob Creek in Bell County and York Creek in Comal Hays and Guadalupe Counties. The Knob Creek project covers 23870 acres and costs an estimated 720531 with 491931 federal funding and 228600 local. The York Creek project spans 93824 acres across three counties with a total cost about 2895678 and 1993240 federal funding.
