In Chengchow Henan Province China a city once rich faces drought famine and refugees after bombs floods and war. The Church Committee for China Relief raises funds in the United States to aid this effort.
Sunday April 21 program at the Methodist Church starts with Union Sunday School at 2 p.m. followed by Union Worship Service at 3 p.m. Rev. J. H. Meredith will preach.
In a special meeting of Harper Presbyterian Church congregation, Dean Hopf and David Schmidt were unanimously elected to Elder and Deacon respectively. Ordination will be May 7 after worship. Hopf attended the Austin Presbytery spring meeting in San Antonio on April 14. Local visits and weekend gatherings are noted for several families in the community.
Mr and Mrs Alfred Kott visited their daughter Mrs Glen Hopf and Mr Hopf on Tuesday. Billy four years old returned home with a handful of cookies after a neighbor visit and replied to a cookies question with a witty exchange about the house smelling of cookies
