Relief debate and Texas gathering in Washington

Last week Congress debated foreign relief with the Senate approving the Greek Turkish aid bill while the House examined a 350 million relief program. Byrd warned against unsustainable aid as UNRRA and allied programs total 15.8 billion in expenditures. In Washington on San Jacinto Day the Texas Society hosted a Texas-themed gathering in the Interior Department cafeteria with Howard Hughes arranging transport and performers. Sam Rayburn spoke on Texas and the evening showed the Interior Department film Resources of Texas. Ralph Pittman leads the Texas Society with Helen Snelling as secretary.

San Angelo Farmer Featured In National Page Advertisement

J. M. Pfluger of San Antonio Texas, a noted farmer and stock raiser, is spotlighted in a full color national advertisement in the fourth installment of Studebaker’s master farmer series. The feature shows Pfluger's grain sorghum land near San Angelo and an outdoor portrait painted by Frederic Tellander.
