Baumann Receives Purple Heart for Vietnam Service

Lieutenant Baumann, forward observer with the 4th division 29th Infantry, earned the Purple Heart for leg injuries while in Vietnam. He has served six months in Vietnam and expects to return home in August. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Hugo Baumann of Marble Falls and grandson of Mrs Ethel Rech and Mrs Henry Baumann of Fredericksburg.

Vernell Solbrig and William Walker Jr at Holy Ghost Church

Mrs. Geistweidt Celebrates 101st Birthday in Mason

Aunt Thresa Geistweidt born March 2, 1868 in Mason marked her 101st birthday. Married to John Geistweidt in 1891, widowed 1938, she has lived with daughters and relatives, with children Arnold Rode, C C Pluenneke, Ervin and Arthur Geistweidt among those aiding the celebration.

Pink and Blue Shower Honors Mrs Meyer in Fredericksburg

Mrs. Danny Meyer of Fredericksburg was honored at a pink and blue shower hosted by Mrs. Garland Black and Mrs. Douglas Bode. The Dougals Bode home featured pastel pink and blue decor, a lemonade chiffon cake, pink sherbet punch, and a cradle motif on the gift table. Friendly Sewing Circle Met February 26

The friendly sewing circle met Wednesday February 26 at Mrs Alfred Kramers home with six members. They finished the club quilt. Mrs Lee Schmidt hosted and served sandwiches cake rolls chips coffee and punch. The next meeting will be March 26 at the Kramer home with Mrs Antone Lange as hostess.

Major Norman E. Tourism and watershed surveys dominate RC&D meeting

Eastern Hill Country RC&D Project Executive Committee met in Stonewall to discuss a project wide tourism development meeting with state agency input. A flood-prevention dam feasibility survey for Gillespie and Blanco counties is planned for April as a top priority.

Willard Richter Joins RC&D Work In Hill Country

Willard Richter biologist and former Nacogdoches resident arrives in Fredericksburg to assist Bob Gordon in the Eastern Hill Country RC&D project covering Blanco and Gillespie counties. A Texas A&M graduate, Richter will help landowners with wildlife management and recreation development. He will move to Fredericksburg in June with wife Johanna Sachers and three children.

Elva West Rites Held in San Angelo

Mrs. W. G. West of 2615 Waco Street died Tuesday at Shannon Hospital. Funeral services were at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in San Angelo with burial in Belvedere Cemetery. She was born August 19, 1880 in Wilson County and survived by two daughters, two sons, twenty four grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Heinemanns Visit Texas A&M With Family Gathering

Eugene Heinemann and Leo Heinemann from Uvalde spent the weekend in College Station on business and met A&M and SMU basketball figures. They traveled home via Austin to visit their sister Miss Ema Jane Heinemann. A square dancing event titled Share the Fun is planned for Friday night March 7 from 7 to 9:30 PM, with later arrivals welcome.
