Texans protest state parks gate charges rise in fee plan
AUSTIN Texas voters approved a bond plan for 75 million in parks revenue but now face gate and use fees. The Parks and Wildlife Commission would charge 50 cents per car at 30 top parks and $1 for day access at many parks, with a year long $12 permit. Senator Murray Watson proposes Bill 84 to exempt pre 1968 parks from admission while keeping use fees for campsites and facilities. The move sparks concern among long time park visitors and supporters. Wetlands and major parks including Kerrville area parks may be affected.
