Soil and water conservation progress faces ongoing erosion fight
In the past year progress has been made toward conserving soil and water but erosion remains a problem. In 1956 farmers and ranchers in Gillespie County SCC were urged to intensify conservation efforts as SCS technicians reviewed tanks terraces and waterways on local properties and reaffirmed payment specifications and cooperative efforts with landowners and contractors.

Presbyterian Women To Meet In Local Home

Frank Kaiser Serves Aboard USS Kearsarge In Far East
Machinist's mate fireman Frank Kaiser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe P. Kaiser of Fredericksburg Texas, serves in the Far East aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge. In mid December the ship took part in a three day training off Okina wa waters, witnessed by Secretary of the Navy Charles S. Thomas, with air and surface operations, refueling and replenishment underway. The Secretary visited the 7th Fleet during an inspection tour of Navy and Marine Corps activities in the Far East.
