February Draft Call Sets 289 for Texas Army

The February draft call for Texas asks for 289 men for the Army as the state share of a 6,000 man national call. Mrs Wedekind Hospitalized After Stroke in Hunt

Mrs. Fred Wedekind of Hunt is in a Fredericksburg hospital suffering a stroke. Visiting at the hospital Sunday night were Mr. and Mrs. William Casper of Lavernia Mr. and Mrs. Walter Simpson of San Antonio and Floyd Casper of Bracketville Mr. and Mrs. Vene Cottle went to Sonora to visit their son Oren who is working in the oil fields.

Kenneth Klein Arrives in Far East at Ashiya Air Base

A/3C Kenneth L. Klein of Fredericksburg Texas arrived in the Far East and was assigned to Ashiya Air Base on Kyushu Japan. He joins the 483rd Troop Carrier Wing flying C 119s to move personnel and supplies across the theater. Klein comes from Sheppard AFB Texas where he was in tech school.
