Candlelight Christmas Service Planned by Local Church
The Rev. Milton Bierschwale announces a Sunday December 19 candlelighting service at 5 30 p m with alternating carols and scripture readings. Mrs Fred Whitewood Jr will lead a 20 member combined junior and adult choir. The organist is Mrs J W Alix and flutist Mrs Michael Knaupp. Proceeds aid retired pastors or widows with low income and help fund Major Medical Insurance. The service has drawn strong community attendance and all are invited.

Harper Presbyterian Church to be Honored with Historical Marker
The Texas Historical Marker will be unveiled Sunday December 19 at 11 a.m. in Harper Texas on Highway 290 West. Rev Milton Bierschwale plans the ceremony with Gillespie County Historical Society and Commission participation. The marker notes the church founded 1881 as Barnett Spring Presbyterian Church and moved to Harper in 1901 with ties to Arch Austin and R W Crosley.

He served as a corporal and chaplain 1917 19. Survivors include wife Verdie and daughter Mary Sivells both of Harper two grandchildren and siblings in New Orleans Calif Alaska and Arizona. Pallbearers were American Legion members.

Mrs A J Kinsey 69 nee Bernice Whitewood of Kimble County Texas died December 6 at Hill Country Memorial Hospital after nine days illness. Born June 18 1907 she married Anderson J Kinsey December 1925 in Paint Rock. Survivors include husband daughter Jo Ann son Dale Scott and six grandchildren. Burial followed a service at Harper Presbyterian Church with Rev Milton Bierschwale officiating.

The Harper Herald announces new yearly and multi year subscription rates effective December 1 1976. Local Gillespie county subscribers pay 4.20 annually or 10.50 for three years including tax. Distant counties are 25 per year or 19.13 for three years including tax. The increase reflects rising production and postage costs and is the first raise in years.
