Kinsey Admitted to Hill Country Hospital

Local friends and relatives note that A. J. Kinsey was admitted for medical attention at Hill Country Hospital. Visiting Sunday were Alfred Muellendorf of Fredericksburg, Jerry Feller and daughter Pearl Marie from New Iberia Louisiana, Simon Casper and daughter, Richard Phillips and son Ricky from New Iberia, and Mr and Mrs Schmidt plus others while they hunted at the Feller ranch.

Bull of the Woods entries rise slowly in Harper contest

Only two bucks entered this week in Harper's Bull of the Woods contest, bringing total entries to four as of Tuesday November 30. Benny Barker and W A Shorty Hogan reported their bucks with detailed dress weight, spread, height and point totals, Hogan’s buck ineligible for top prizes but eligible in Merchants Division. Four additional cash prizes funded by local businesses are awarded in the Merchants Division for points, spread, heaviest buck, and turkey gobbler scoring.

Weekend deer hunt draws Florida pair to Harper area

Mr and Mrs Elmer Russell of Dripping Springs drove 1200 miles to the Cameron Ranch near Harper for deer hunting. They joined friends including Mr and Mrs Robert Hedrick who bagged a buck with one antler missing. Mrs Hedrick saw deer but did not shoot. The Hedricks also visited Houston and other spots during the Texas trip.

San Antonio youth and teen held for theft in Harper

A 22 year old Charles Richards and a 15 year old girl were caught siphoning gasoline from a Mr Lumpkins pickup on Main Street Harper by Deputy Victor Harper. Richards is jailed in Gallespie County on theft charges and will be sent to San Antonio authorities. the girl, a runaway, was retrieved by her mother at the Fredericksburg sheriff's office. The missing 1969 Chevrolet Camino pickup was reported stolen that morning.

Sharon Ann Schumpelt to Compete In Make It Yourself With Wool

Sharon Ann Schumpelt daughter of Mr and Mrs Wer te Schumpelt and member of the Harper H Club will be among 48 girls from 14 counties to compete in the 1971 Make It Yourself With Wool District 9 and 6 fashion contest in Junction on Saturday Dee 4. Two junior and two senior winners advance to the state contest in Huntsville on December 1 with a chance at an all expense paid trip to Europe in Phoenix, Arizona. Registration January 20, 1972 at Junction High School with judging at 10 am and a public Fushwwn Show at 2:30 pm. The event is sponsored by multiple Texas and national wool and sheep associations.
