Three Day Gillespie County Fair Opens At New Site

The Gillespie County Fair moves to a million dollar venue with a Bicentennial float titled 200 Years of Freedom. Comfort Chamber of Commerce president David Biermann leads a committee including Ross and Betty Murphy and Gerald and Dorothy Herbst as float chairpersons. The float features the Comfort Chamber Royalty Debbie Marquart Miss Comfort State Staglik and Helen Herbst. The parade rolls Friday August 27 and again September 4 in Harper Labor Day events. The entry includes an Eagle a Cannon and a Liberty Bell in red white and blue themes.

Old Teamsters Reunion Moves to Tivydale on Labor Day

The 41st Gillespie County Old Teamsters Reunion shifts from Pruneda Hall to the new Texas Hills Sporting Range Pavilion in Tivydale for Labor Day Monday Sept. 6. Officials led by Henry Wendel plan a 3 p.m. start with social hour and dancing, followed by beef barbecue. The event also notes an important band and a gathering inviting parents of band members to a meeting Aug. 30 at Harper High School Cafetorium.
