WPA Workers Available For Private Jobs In Texas
WPA district manager Hazelrigg urged farmers and private employers to hire WPA workers registered with the Texas State Employment Service. He said WPA crews can be released to provide farm help and stressed workers will not remain on projects if a bona fide private job offer is available. Currently 7,994 WPA participants are on projects and 7,671 are eligible and awaiting assignment, all registered with the state service. In Gillespie County 57 workers are active with 19 eligible for WPA employment awaiting private-job offers.
